Patients to benefit from generous donations to Renal Unit

Hatchers Solicitors LLP have raised almost £800 through a number of events which will benefit patients receiving dialysis treatment at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Delighted staff on the Renal Unit at RSH today thanked local residents, businesses and staff for their support, after they received three recent donations.

Lindsey Walker and Emma Powell visited the unit last week to present a cheque for £775. We raised the money throughout the year through a variety of events including cake sales and a charity quiz. Part of the money was also raised through a Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge that 24 members of our staff took part in.

The donation from Hatchers Solicitors will be used to benefit patients in the near future.

Sue Dean, a Transplant Sister at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, thanked everyone who has raised money to support the unit for their generosity.

 She said:

“Receiving dialysis treatment lasts around four hours, and patients need to have this three times a week. It is important that they have items that can take their mind off the treatment and these items, particularly the tablets and

digital radios, are perfect for this. Our patients are already benefiting from the generous donations and I’d like to extend a massive ‘thank you’ to Hatchers Solicitors for their excellent support.

We are thankful not only for their efforts, but also the generosity of many other fundraisers who support the unit, which all helps to benefit our patients while they receive treatment at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.”
