Above – The ‘Celebration Cake’ round for our in house Children in Need Bake off
Throughout the year the staff at Hatchers have held cake sales, healthy lunches, sponsored slims and even an in-house bake off. Although the most impressive of their efforts was when 25 members of staff and friends embarked on the ‘Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge’ in June. This involved a 25 mile walk covering three of the highest peaks in Yorkshire; Pen Y Ghent (694 metres); Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres).
Hatchers are pleased to announce that they have raised a grand total of £4,460 during 2013 which has been split between various local and national charities, including the Philippines Appeal and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Lindsey Walker secretary and charity organiser said:
“We are very committed to helping a number of local and national charities. It’s not only a great way of raising money with fun events but it also brings the staff together. We are delighted with the amount of money raised.”
Hatchers not only raised a fantastic amount of money during 2013 but also during December the staff collected gifts and food that were donated to the Salvation Army in Oakengates. These were parcelled up and given to the homeless and less fortunate at Christmas.
Marketing Coordinator, Jessie Hinds spent Christmas day working with the Salvation Army, serving Christmas dinner to those who would normally have been without. She said:
“It was so lovely to give a helping hand at Christmas, it made me realise how lucky we all are and I will definitely be doing it again for years to come!”
