2018 was set to be a busy year right from the outset, with the firm setting its annual fundraising target at £2,500.00, to be divided equally between two nominated charities – SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death), and local charity Severn Hospice.
Throughout the course of the year, the staff at Hatchers participated in various events.
In June, around 20 staff from all the Hatchers offices took part in the long awaited Great Hatchers Walk. The route was 32 miles in total, walking from our office in Shrewsbury to our office in Whitchurch, incorporating two separate sections of the Shropshire Way. Some staff chose to walk the whole distance, whilst others did individual sections. Some even brought their canine friends along for company. Despite the blisters, a fun day was had by all, and the walk was a reminder that Shropshire is a beautiful county that we are lucky to live and work in. In total, the walk raised £750.00.
The annual Hatchers quiz took place at Shrewsbury Golf Club in September, with eighteen teams from various local businesses taking part. Competition was fierce, with the eventual winners being the team from the Shropshire Wildlife Trust. This raised over £900.00 which pushed the annual fundraising above target, with a grand total of £3,148.19 raised in aid of SANDS and Severn Hospice.
As is the tradition at Hatchers, there were also a number of bake sales, lunches and a Christmas jumper day organised in-house.
2019 promises to be another exciting year for fundraising. This year’s nominated charities are CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) and local charity, The Harry Johnson Trust.
Natasha Worrall, Charity Event Organiser at Hatchers, commented “Whilst not everyone enjoys mud, sweat and tears, we all had great fun in 2018 raising funds for such worthy causes. We look forward to more of the same for the year ahead.”
