Finance and Administration Assistant | Finance Team
Main responsibilities
To provide administrative support to the Accounts and Admin team which will include:
- Maintaining the company sales/purchase ledgers
- Working with spreadsheets
- Posting entries on the firm’s case management system
- Calculating and checking to make sure payments, amounts and records are correct
- Filing of invoices and other documents
- Meeting month end tasks
- Banking
- Preparing letters and communications to be sent out
- General office duties (filing, archiving, and scanning)
- Deal with any Finance enquiries, whether by phone, email or face to face;
- Reception / switchboard cover
Working towards
- You will be working towards gaining the skills, knowledge and behaviours to obtain your AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
- You will be required to attend Shrewsbury College one day per week, with the remainder of the working week at our office in Shrewsbury town centre
Career progression after this apprenticeship
- This role is initially for a fixed term for 18 months, with a wide scope to work across the business, and future prospects of a permanent position for the right candidate
Qualifications
- GCSE or equivalent English (Grade C/4) Essential
- GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade B/6) Essential
Experience
- Sound IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft packages – Outlook, Word and Excel in particular.
- Preferably experience of working within an office environment
- Preferably experience of working within a customer service environment
Skills and Capabilities
- High level of numeracy.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload within a busy and environment.
- Accuracy and a very high standard of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and deal with multiple tasks effectively.
- Team oriented and collaborative with a flexible, can-do attitude.
- Ability to produce clear and well-presented paperwork.
