The Lecture Marquee ran an interesting and varied programme of lectures and demonstrations on both days. Each day started and ended with the ever-popular show favourite of Flower Arranging given by two experts from the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS).

In between these demonstrations, Toby Buckland and Mark Wasilewski gave lectures, along with the Show’s very own Gardeners’ Question time with Toby, Mark and Penny Meadmore appearing. After his popular appearance in 2019, celebrity gardener David Domoney once again attended, talking about how houseplants changed his life.

Other attractions included the well-known  television chef, Phil Vickery, as well as The Ronnies  (Shropshire based vocal harmony group, specialising in the sounds of the 1940’s) performing live on the Friday evening, and Amy Jones (South African singer songwriter) on stage on the Saturday evening. The daytime arena entertainment included show jumping, the RAF Falcons  Parachute Display Team, and a performance of “Alice in Wonderland – A Very Mad Royal Tea Party.”

Due to the risk of fire because of the hot weather, both evenings ended with a laser show to music, rather than the traditional firework display.

Hatchers once again sponsored the Lecture Marquee at the Shrewsbury Flower Show on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th August 2019.

The Lecture Marquee programme included flower arranging by two experts from the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS).

In between the flower arranging, Ben Mayho from Wildcraft gave a demonstration on Willow Weaving, and this year’s Celebrity Gardener, David Domoney shared his handy garden tips. Chris Smith from Pennard Plants made cocktails from his garden for everyone to taste, and there were plenty of questions at the show’s very own Gardeners’ Question time, with panellists David Domoney, Margaret Thrower and Mike Hinton.

MLE Pyrotechnics Ltd  provided the spectacular evening fireworks with a space theme, including full colour lasers, bringing both the evenings to a stunning climax.

Other attractions included the well-known Aussie television chef, John Torode, as well as Gary Mullen and the Works (Queen Tribute Band) performing live on the Friday evening, and Scouting for Girls on stage on the Saturday evening.

Whilst the weather on both days was changeable, ranging from beautiful sunshine to downpours and thunder and lightning, this did not stop everyone from having a very enjoyable time.

Hatchers are pleased to be supporting a local Shropshire music festival taking place on Saturday 20th July 2019 at Shooters Hill Barns, Wem, SY4 5PP.

Charmina Festival began after a family member was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in 2017. Its aim is to raise awareness for cancer and raise money for local cancer charities such as Lingen Davies, Severn Hospice & Cancer Research UK, all whilst making memories, sharing experiences and having a great time with friends over music and drinks. ​

As well as live music and DJ’s, there are food and drink stalls, hair and face glitter, children’s area, inflatable slide, raffle, charity tent and talks, and much more.

Hatchers have announced the sponsorship of a local music festival.

Crossover Festival is an American Bluegrass and Old Time music event in the North-West of England. Now in its third year, the four-day music festival is set to take place from Friday 3rd to Monday 6^th May 2019 and will play host to a mix of some of the finest musicians and bands within the UK, as well as acts from across the pond.

Nestled in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, near Congleton, the Clonter Opera Theatre will provide the perfect venue and includes an impressive 400 seat concert auditorium. As well as plenty of live music, the festival will offer a tempting variety of food and drink as well as stalls for browsing or buying an array of crafts and clothing.

The family friendly event will offer guests the chance to participate in interactive workshops, including singing, dance or learning to play a new instrument. With tickets available for a single day or full weekend, including on-site camping for the more adventurous, there are options to suit everyone.

Hatchers Solicitors LLP are delighted to announce that they will be once again be sponsoring the production, which will be performed at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th April.

Pride and Prejudice is a tale of love, hate and dancing performed by a fine cast of young, ambitious actors.

The show is wonderfully directed and re-worked by Andrew Bannerman with beautiful, period-accurate costumes being provided by Beverley Baker and her team.  They are also supported by artistic director and dance historian Maggie Love and workshop leader Lisa Morris, who have worked tremendously to bring the team together, not forgetting the student stage management team who work tirelessly to make sure the play runs smoothly.

SYT is a youth theatre group established in 1993 that aims to expose young actors to classical and contemporary texts.

This is not the first time Hatchers have worked with Shropshire Youth Theatre, having also sponsored last year’s production of Much Ado About Nothing, as well as the 2016 production of Twelfth Night. Over the years the group has provided a platform for many talented young actors to take their first steps in performing.

Shakespeare’s sparkling battle-of-the-sexes comedy is a story of trickery, treachery and, ultimately, true love. Will Benedick and Beatrice ever get together? Their ‘will-they-won’t-they’ relationship is one of Shakespeare’s funniest and most famous love stories. Performed by some of Shropshire’s finest young actors, their talent and execution of Shakespeare will astonish you.

This is not the first time Hatchers have worked with Shropshire Youth Theatre, having also sponsored 2016’s production of Twelfth Night. Hatchers are particularly pleased to be involved with Shropshire Youth Theatre again, as over the years the group has provided a platform for many talented young actors to take their first steps in performing.

The winner of Hatchers’ Grand Prix biking competition, Sam picked up his bike today from Dave Mellor Cycles in Shrewsbury. Sam, three was entered into the competition by his parents at the Shrewsbury Cycle Grand Prix, where Hatchers were one of the main sponsors.

Sam attends Stables day care nursery in Wem and until now has been riding a balance bike. Jessie, Marketing Coordinator at Hatchers said ‘Sam was so excited about picking his first ‘proper’ bike and there was a great range of colours and styles of bike available at Mellor’s. He fell for a blue one and once the decision was made we only managed to get him off it to have the seat height adjusted before he was back glued to the seat! There is going to be a lot of cycling going on at the Gill house this weekend.’
