Hatchers team to compete in World Coracle Championships

On Friday 16th September the World Coracle Championships makes a welcome return to the River Severn in Shrewsbury. The event will raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. A brave group of volunteers from the Hatchers office will compete against teams from a number of other local businesses.

Our “Welsh Bridge Warriors” team consists of Matthew Bowering, Helen Cowley, Jack Latham and Dan Tudor. Team members will take it in turns to traverse the river in a relay format and the winning team will be crowned world champions.

Races will take place at the picturesque Pengwern Boat Club, just along the riverbank from Hatchers Welsh Bridge office. The fun begins at 2pm and will continue throughout the afternoon. All are welcome to come along and encourage the participants. A bar and refreshments will also be available.

The coracle race has established itself as a major fundraising event in the town, and around £20,000 was raised at last year’s event. Macmillan Cancer Support does a huge amount to help those living with cancer in Shropshire, of which there are currently around 17,000. They aim to support those people, as well as their friends and family, to ensure that no-one faces cancer alone.

Any donations to help support this fantastic cause, and hopefully spur our Hatchers team onto victory, would be gratefully received. Details of how to donate can be found here.
